The Kid during the Think days. He rode for SMA afterward and then Sonic and Scarecrow before winding up on the Black Label. Adams left the Label for a couple of years to ride for Enjoi and had a part in their Bag Of Suck video. That's probably my favorite video and I'd be willing to make a half assed claim for Bag Of Suck being the best video ever. But I'm not going to go there.

Josh did a lot of big gaps and rails in the 1990s. I know that there were other guys doing some of the same stuff, but in looking at the pictures now, it seems like Josh was pushing the limits. He has that balls to the wall John Cardiel attack to the obstacles he was skating. I don't now if he gets enough recognition these days for what he was doing back then.

Depends on my mood - if I'm gushy-gushy. But if I drank a couple of coffees, I have to watch MacGuyver or Cops. I go through these phases where I watch a lot of TV, and then I don't watch TV and I just sit there and stare at myself and try to read my own mind. That's pretty deep.

If you were a rock and roller, what kind of band would you be in?

It would be a cross between fIREHOSE and The Melvins. It'd be all bodoneno, bodoneno, grrrgrrrgrrr.

Have you been skating vert lately?

Yeah, there is this bank to wall by my house. Seriously man, it rocks.

What is your favorite thing to skate right now?

Me and Heath Kirchart have been skating in the rain a lot lately. Going through puddles and stuff, qushshsh.

Josh Beagle.

It's going to be Josh Beagle all week. Josh was pro for Foundation for most of the 90s and maybe even a little of the 2000s before retiring the board with his name on it. He did a lot of work behind the scenes for Foundation in terms of video editing and production, even when he was skating for them.

Note: The filmer for Baker was given the nickname Beagle for a slight resemblance to this former F-Trooper.

Dan's only ad on Foundation. He got kicked off in another ad a couple months later. He rode for Think for the 1990s and the early 2000s before joining up with the Gonz at Krooked. The current Schmoo series of boards are great.

When are the Fourstar Sean Malto Kansas shirts coming out? He was wearing one in the Etnies advertisement last month. I keep checking the internet, but nothing yet. I really want to get one of those.

Sarge blasts some stairs in SF. According to the new issue of Thrasher, he was skating at the SOTY party.

I had the board he is riding in the photo. It was the first slick I ever had. It's a little hard to tell from the photo what the graphics are, but it is a slightly futuristic scene of a guy with a gun in a city. I learned pressure flips on that board.

One of my favorite pros for Friday.

The new issue of Transworld is really thin for size. However, it's looking like a good one for editorial content. I've only read a little bit of it. There's a Lizard King interview and You Will Soon's Dan Watson has an article on skateboarders rapping in their video parts.

In other skateboard related print news, Mark Gonzales' skateboard wheel is reviewed in the new issue of Art In America.

Since Jim's writing keeps coming up on Crailtap, here's a sample.

Crockpot was a column in Transworld that ran a few times in 1992. I believe TWS ran it a few years earlier and brought it back, but I wasn't skating then and don't know for sure. They had a few good short interviews with Andy Jenkins, Mark Lewman and Spike Jonze, Jeff Phillips, Mike Vallely and one with Mark Gonzales that featured the painting collage made with cigarette packs.

The interview was by Thomas Campbell and the photos were by Luke Ogden.

Laban Pheidias.

The second wave of Blockhead focused more on the streets as most of the new ams were taking the big drops. Laban was the leading the charge, along with Dan Rogers and Jeremy Wray. It should be noted that Sam Cunningham skated some big rails in Splendid Eye Torture, too. Gotta give the old guys their due.

Union was a new wheel company in 1992. They had a pretty loaded team - Markovich, Eric Koston, Mike Vallely, Alphonzo Rawls, etc.

It's going to be random stuff for the next two weeks. I've got a week of Josh Beagle planned, except I need to scan one more photo in and I'm slowly putting together a little something on when Consolidated started.
