Recs.

Recreational Footwear.

Much like Poochie, who knew Recs came from outer space? The company was an entry into the skateboard footwear market in the late 1990s. They were based in Costa Mesa. Recs did a three month print rollout before showing some skating in an ad. They launched in the fall of 1997 and lasted until some point in 1999. The team featured Mike Crum, Pat Duffy, Bill Weiss, Fred Gall, Adam McNatt, and a few assorted amateurs. My educated guess is that Bill Weiss was acting in some sort of team manager capacity.

Uncle Freddie has repeatedly said he needed money at the time Weiss offered him a spot on the team and against his better judgement took it...in doing so brushed off DC who he was also in talks with.

He was actually on DC, but on like a six month probation period to see if he was cut out for the team. It's so kind of strange to me how corporate DC operated back then. It also explains why so many dudes were rocking full DC kits and getting more coverage than half the team, but never wound up on the team. Strange company.
