"Freddy Gall switch ollies a chained embankment in Philadelphia."
If you are looking for any sort of clever writing today, you aren't going to find it here. Go check out You Will Soon. They've been blogging it up over the last 24 hours. But if you want to see an old photo of Fred Gall from the Photosynthesis days, then this is your stop on the internet. He wore a lot of yellow shirts back then.
The photo is by Ryan Gee.

There was an entire period of time in the early 2000s where videos (especially 411) had tons of people wearing yellow shirts. I seem to remember Shorty's "Fulfill the Dream" came out and yellow was the hot color for t-shirts. I don't know if that's causation or just correlation.

I think DC and Elwood were a big influence on the popularity of yellow. I sort of like the color, but it annoys me very easily, too. I'm not thrilled with a yellow top ply on boards.
I'm the same way with the top ply; anything but yellow. I don't dislike the color, but every deck I have ridden that had a yellow top ply, wound up chipping really bad, or snapped. So now, I just avoid them. The board could have the right size, but if there's a yellow top, I can't do it. I'm kind of picky, since I ride 8.125 (or 8.25) by 32, and the wheelbase has to be at least 14 inches. After those specs are met, I look at the shape, and then measure the nose and tail. A ruler is a must when selecting a new board since I've noticed that stickers on boards listing the size are wrong a lot of the times. And these are put on by the manufacturer!
