Freestylin'.
Hans was pro for Schmitt Stix. He also rode for Vision Street Wear and Tracker. When the New Deal started, Hans was included on the team. He was one of the freestylers that Ed Templeton would skate with back in the day, which inspired Ed to try impossibles and half flips on his regular street board.

That's a great story. I always wondered where Ed picked up the impossible from.
random but this is my 'safe place' where I can share...drinking at the office party today, put on the paper crown from the cracker and said "I feel like I should be in a Mad Circle ad"...no one got it.

I can relate. I used to work in an office and it was like that. Although I was surprised to later find out my senior manager used to skateboard in the 80s, and was at the Trashmore contest where Gator punched the cop.
Working in elementary education, I can assure you that absolutely no one gets any of my skate nerd references. One woman knows a lot of the early 90's hip hop from a lot of skate videos though.
Ed used to skate with Hazze and Dan Brown. He mentioned them in his first Transworld pro spotlight. I had to double check to make sure I remembered correctly.
Nick - Good one. I don't think many skaters even know the Mad Circle any more.
Two of my office manager's sons skate or used to so she kind of understands. They were also into a lot of other sports and kind of left skateboarding. One of them will roll around occasionally, but I haven't seen him at the park in a long time. I guess he was pretty good. He'd always be done for the day when I got to the park and I'd hear about a trick or two that he did.
I've said this before, but all my appreciation for jazz and hip hop is due to skateboard videos.
