Emeric Pratt #2.

The end of the line.

It was recently announced that Consolidated Skateboards is closing up shop after 30 years in the business. The company was started in March of 1992 by Steve Keenan and Steve "Birdo" Guisinger. The initial team included former SMA riders Karma Tsocheff, Alan Petersen, and Corey Chrysler, as well as Santa Cruz's Jason Jessee. Moish Brenman was the original artist who created the famous cube logo and did many of the board graphics. Sadly, Moish and Corey have both passed away in the years since. Consolidated stood out right from the start by doing things a little bit differently, like donating money from board sales to charities and writing a plan on how to get a skatepark built in your town.

Emeric is a Minnesota ripper who rode for Consolidated and Iota.

The photo is by Matt Price.

If you do a search on here using Consolidated, you can find a ton of their old ads. I've already scanned a bunch of their early ads over the years and didn't want to do a week of reruns.

By the was: what scanner are you using?

Thanks for the support.

I use a HP Photosmart C4180 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier with Photoshop 7.0 on a 15 year old iMac running OS X 10.4.11.

Thank you for the reply...interesting setup for creating this quality scans you upload to your blog. I really expected some professional scan solution. That is definitely underlining the diy spirit of your work. Mad respect...your amount of mags has to be huge! Best regards... Valentin

Yeah, I'm running the old gear. Gotta keep it real. Honestly, Photoshop hasn't really changed much over the decades for straight forward photo and scanning stuff. I do a little bit of color correction and cleanup, but nothing fancy. You just have to know where the photo is going to end up and how to make it look nice.

I'd like a wider scanner so I don't have to piece together two page spreads.

It's a lot of mags, but it really doesn't take up too much room. I guess. It'd suck to have to lift all of them up at once.
