We always talk about how thick those Transworlds were in the late 90s and early 2000s without giving much credit to how they grew to so many pages. They could print that many pages because skateboarding was growing and companies were pumping money into print media, which was the major advertising avenue of the era. Hence, monstrosities like this three page ad for Flip existed.
I legit thought this was Simon Woodstock for a split second. It doesn't look like anybody is wearing a mouth guard so this whole scene is probably staged.

Monstrosity as in 'large' or monstrosity as in 'awful'? Hmm... Hadn't seen this ad before and not the finest from the Flip camp who were certainly capable of making great ads.
I don't know. There's that natural inclination to make fun of it, except it's forgettable. I didn't remember it either and kept seeing Geoff in training while looking for A-Team stuff. I had to stop and take a look at a second to figure it out.
They had the money to green light this idea. Geoff will be a boxer and we'll go to a gym with a ring to take some pictures. I wonder if they regretted going through with the concept after it ran?
Flip's general art direction over the years has been spotty at best.
