I turned 36 earlier this month. I'm all too aware of the fact that I have a finite number of years left to skateboard where I can ollie up on the big ledges for 50-50s and do nollie flips on flat. Therefore I try to skate as much as I can. Whenever I call my friend Paul in Rochester he always says that he hasn't been skating in forever because he has been running a lot. I bug him that he should be skateboarding since he's only a couple months younger than me. Anyway, all this running is being put to a good use. He's going to run in the Buffalo Marathon on Sunday. Good luck, buddy. I still say you should have been skateboarding instead.

Race was a wheel company done by Think. They weren't afraid to use non-skating ads either from time to time. The team included Eric Ricks, Karma Tsocheff and other assorted Think riders.

Eben was a DC local who rode for Experience at some point.

Think were the champs of using visual propaganda that occasionally had little to do with skateboarding in their advertisements. I want to say that they even won a T-Eddy award for most ads without skating at some point.

Vert Is Dead turns two today.

Dave was pro for New Deal and Media in the 1990s. He had a smooth style with lots of clean flip tricks. I watched his part from Children Of The Sun on YouTube yesterday. I also watched 411 #2 and Dave had a lot of footage in that as well.

Barry "Twist" McGee did a lot of the early art for Mad Circle.

I find it interesting that back when I was in college my art professors didn't really know about all the skateboard artists beyond me telling them how awesome they were. Now one of the art history professors at the college teaches a class on the urban/suburban/street/graffiti/whatever you want to call artists. This is cool, but at the same time, key figures like Ed Templeton, Andy Jenkins, Neil Blender and maybe Mark Gonzales are being left out. That's like talking about the history of the NBA and not mentioning Jerry West. I'm just complaining without any real point. I make my students look at Abstract Expressionism, Dada, Surrealism and Pop. You know, the old arty farty crap.

I know nothing about Eddie. Sucks that your only coverage ever might have been a lousy video grab sequence.
