You got me floatin'.

I'm closing out an Airwalk hat trick with Kris taking a 180 ollie down some serious real estate.

PASS~PORT is teaming up with Altered States Tapes to put on a little show in Melbourne, Australia this Saturday night at the Toff In Town. It features the music of Lucy Cliche, Orion, Primo, and Roman Nails. They are also releasing an audio tape for Roman Nails. If I was down under, I'd check this one out because it sounds fun from the event page. This type of thing makes me like PASS~PORT even more, as I've dug their part in Transworld's The Cinematographer Project: World View video. If somebody wants to hook me up with a copy of the tape, that'd be cool.

Vibrant Colors.

I had at least three pairs of the Jim Shoe. I had green, brown, and tan for sure. I sort of feel like I had another color in there as well, but maybe not. Maybe it was only three. It seemed as the quality improved over the years. The green ones I had at first were a tad flimsy, but the last pair I had in tan were of improved construction. I might just be imagining that. Although it would make sense if a company kept a model in production over the years to make minor adjustments to improve it. The Jim Shoes had a solid cupsole and an OK upper that didn't have a ton of protection in the ollie area. The padding around the ankle was decent, if I recall correctly. I liked that they came in solid colors, too.

I know my wheels were that small back then as well, but that was a dumb phase.

I went to the bank on my lunch break yesterday. If I had known how relatively mild it was going to be, I would have brought my board and gone skating on my break instead. It would have been a better use of my time. The snow returned last night.

Blue above the rooftops.

I went a little heavy with Airwalk scans for the next batch. I always wore Airwalk in the late 80s and early 90s. I stuck by them up until 1994 or 95, primarily because of the Jim Shoe. I figure I had at least three or four pairs of those. I never had a pair of the 86 or their other big model of 1993, the One. I wasn't feeling the design of either.

The weather was good enough for outdoor skateboarding at the park on Friday and Sunday. There's still a single snow drift that was melting and making one side of the park slightly unrideable. This is a moot point because it's supposed to snow again tonight and stay cold the rest of the week. Friday was nice because it was warmer. Yesterday involved putting up with a bit of a wind.

"Everything up until 1991 then only certain things."

This is a Transworld poster from 1992. The poster was on my wall for a long time, hence the discoloration on the top right quarter. It's a little odd to see Ed wearing huge jeans, but they were the style at the time. Also of note are the Zero Twos paired with Vision socks. He would have been on TV with Mike Vallely and a couple years out from starting Toy Machine. I watched Ed's part in Toy Machine's Live last night. He mixes up his classic tricks with flatland switch flip tricks, which is interesting to see. There's also Ethan Fowler's part, where you get to see Ethan evolve from talented skate rat to the refined style one tends to associate with him.

Enjoy your retirement, Daniel Shimizu.

Kyle Yanagimoto.

The Howling II is on channel three.

I always liked the Channel One ads.

Kyle had a ripping street part in the self-titled Color video from 1993. He was also in Devastation, the Z video from 1991. He skated ramps and spots in Hawaii in that one. Kyle has also ridden for Black Label. I think he's from Hawaii.

Julien checks in with a bottom shelf backside 50-50 at Fort Miley.

I finally got skateboarding on Saturday. Jamestown Skateboard Products did a remodel of their street section since the last time I had been there. They added some new ramps and switched stuff up a little. It's one smooth piece of masonite now. I had fun.
