slide to grind variations baffled me for a while when Questionable first came out. Then I saw some random kid skating around in gardening gloves pull a ns to crooks... right then, I figured if a gardening glove wearing kid could do it, so could I! Slippery rounded and/or worn down ledges were the key.
Man, I've slipped on my heelflips. I used to do them so much, that I'd put holes in my pant legs (this is when pants sagged all over your shoe). But, I guess since the weather is getting warmer - aiming at 50+ this weekend - it's time to get back on a heelflip program like Lindsey Robertson.
There's a girl skater at our park, and she is the master of heelflips. Any game of skate she plays someone gets a letter because she busts one out.
I'd like to add that the reason I used to do so many was because of the way Mike Carroll did them. Especially in the 3-screen intro of "Virtual Reality." He does a line where he 3-flips down some stairs, then heelflips, and then FS nollie 180 kickflips.
I've lost so many tricks in my old age, it's not even funny. I have a theory that each skater is only allowed to have a certain number of tricks on lock at any given time. LOL
Heelflips are a 1 in a 1000 trick for me... and that 1 I do land is vert like a rocket air up my ass.
I was gonna say that front foot placement is crazy until I saw it was one of those slide to grinds. Makes me feel better about pretty much slappying into them when I tried.

My motivation these days is the fat kid at the skatepark. If he can land a heelflip, then I had better land a couple of good ones.

I was always mesmerized by that heelflip.
