Dave grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. He's originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He started skateboarding with Tyrone Olson, Pete Lehman, and Aaron Snyder. They all tried to get on Small Room by sending in a video and Dave was the only one who got a board from their collective efforts. Later on H-Street would sponsor Dave as the company was changing over to Evol. He switched to Maple, but stayed with their new shoe brand called Osiris and scored one of the best selling shoes of all time with the D3. He left Maple for the A-Team and was on enjoi when Marc Johnson started the company. Ankle injuries took Dave out of the game and he retired from the pro ranks by the early 2000s.
