Bam Margera #7.

Bam's away.

Mr. Margera takes the plunge on a Volcom tour of the midwest. He would have switched over to Element from Toy Machine at roughly this time.

If your trucks are starting to wear out, will it throw your ollies off a smidge? Does riding a different urethane formula affect anything? As long as the wheel size and shape are to your liking, that shouldn't matter much, should it? I've been in the worst slump the last month and I'm trying to figure things out.

Dude, thanks for the content! I check every week or two (for years).

Worn trucks do make a difference. Urethane matters too. If you're in a slump, change something. Changing gear can re-ignite skating, a small change can make a difference. Get a differently shaped deck (mellow tail, bigger nose, steeper tail, whatever), different trucks, get rid of the new urethane and go back to the old. Do something. If the current situation isn't working, change it.
A couple of grams or a degree of angle do impact.

Whatever way it goes, a month is a long time to waste.
I hope it improves soon!

Thanks for the support.

Yeah, a month is a long time. The slump is still going. It was a gradual thing. I blame getting old.

I did get my setup squared away at least and things are starting to feel better. I'm riding my preferred shapes from Polar and Spitfire with some new Ventures. It's feeling good at least.

I'm the same person who commented above.
Nice that it's feeling good. I hope it works out.
Getting old is hard alright. I'm 45. Getting old limits what I can do, but I'm still managing to learn new stuff which is nice. I have come to terms with losing tricks though. And losing some pop and power.
Getting old shouldn't stop fun and it shouldn't stop 'the buzz'.

Things are coming back around. I started breaking in some new shoes and they really aren't there yet. I can't feel my board great at times, but it's working. I'm actually sort of trying to learn some new stuff, seeing what happens. Most of my skating is based on doing the simple tricks often and trying to put together lines or go fast so that's what makes this even more frustrating. I don't have much to lose so any trick is important.

I've actually had fun skating more often than not this last week so that's good. Also I think the stress of the plague is weighing on me in weird ways. I'm glad I got all leveled up with the vaccinations. I didn't think that would happen this soon because my town is slow at doing things.

A little late to this but have to agree with anon. Was feeling really good on a bigger 8.5 and when it lost some pop switched to a similar shape, but it wasn't exact...and suddenly I was ghost popping everywhere. Same trucks, wheels and shoes but the feeling was so different I was like bambi on ice out there. At my age I don't have time to waste - but do have the disposable income to figure this out so off to support the local!

I agree. I don't have the time to waste if something isn't working. I feel sort of bad about wasting gear, but I figure I'll give stuff out to the kids at the local park. I'm not riding anything I don't like any more. I'm not sure how long it has taken to get my new shoes good, but they finally feel about right. I made the mistake of not wearing them around the office for a couple weeks, too, so that didn't help.

I think it is awesome that a post from a month ago is getting comments. Blogspot is kinda fading away.
