Marc Johnson #8.

"Sorry, split coffee on the perfume ad shots and the urban shot didn't come out. So we had to use skateboarding."

There's a little MJ humor in a Direction Wheels advertisement.

Lance Dalgart snapped the photo.

Man, that flash-in-the-photo was a trend for a while in mid '90s. I think there was a photo a Laban Pheidias in Transworld, and you could see four or five flashes. Maybe a kickflip fakie on a bank in his interview?

Then flashes were replaced by the death lens creeping into the bottom corners of photos in the 2000s. Those should have been cropped out.

How dare they diss Play Fragrance.

I used to work at a skate shop in 95 and we got a bunch of Play samples in one day. The only logical thing to do with them was have a perfume/cologne fight. Good times!

Bill, that was the best comment ever. Since the last couple months I've had this blog on mid 1990s cruise control, I've been kind of keeping my eye out for one of the cologne ads.

What a horrible trend that I fell victim too. Being a naive skate photographer nerd, I just followed all my favorites who always had flashes in the background. Blame Tobin, Thomas Campbell and Spike Jonze..
