Steve Caballero.

I need some new kicks for two reasons - my skate shoes are done and winter is approaching fast. The search is not going well.

If you can put a cup sole on an ugly ass high top, why can't you put a cup sole on a decent looking low top? It's been done before and it works really well.

Why does the Dennis Busenitz shoe have twice as much tongue as is needed? He's a skateboarder, not a soccer player.

Why does every company insist on making all their shoes as rip offs of the Half Cab? If I wanted a pair of Half Cabs, I'd buy a pair of Vans, not your lame ass copy.

I have two college degrees in Fine Art. I may not be Josef Albers in my knowledge of color theory, but I do know what colors go together and why. It's pretty damn obvious that a lot of the shoe designers out there don't. Skateboard footwear should not look like something Rainbow Brite would wear.

Enough with the plaid. Unlike vert, ska really is dead.

Totally tangential, but the art work on that ramp is amazing. Andy Jenkins?

Yes, it is a Jenkins based Wrench Pilot design. That was why I scanned this ad in to begin with a couple of months ago.

The black rectangles on the deck were added after the photo was taken to cover up stickers so the ad could run in other magazines.

LOL!

nice!

For the winter, I'm cruising around in a pair of Patagonia hikers (off roading) and some black leather Lakai Kingston 2's (around the city). Flat ass skate shoes and slippery conditions just don't mix.

Your degree is in printmaking, not shoe theory, chumpski. I've had some stuff to send you for a coon's age. Maybe I'll get off my butt and put a package in the mail soon.

I don't need a degree in shoe theory. I'm not going to be designing them. I'm just going to be telling them not to put orange, green and purple on the same sneaker.

G & S Footage?

you may want to try the vans chukka lows. they've got a few reasonable colors and are super functional. thin, short tongue, no beefy tech features, but the sole is a thicker than the old schools. they don't wear out as quickly and give old mens' feet a little protection.

I've always wanted a pair of Vans Chukkas. I'll take a look at them. Vulcanized soles just don't work for me. They hurt my feet walking. I couldn't imagine skating in them.

Preach on brother! You can always tell which Vans are gonna end up at their outlet stores or at 6pm.com the fastest. The more hideous the colorway the faster it goes to the outlets. Have you tried the Vans AV Sk8 Lows? Just thick enough for good board feel but not so thin they feel like you're skating barefooted.

The Adidas Busenitz shoes are amzingly comfortable..and you can cut the tongue down to a normal size if you like..it's in the instructions with the shoes..2 lengths..why?..no clue, but whatever length, Busenitz kills in them...I run in mine at the gym..super comfy..my 2 cents..

agree 100% on the half cabs...sometimes I think Vox is a cheap japanese black market ripoff of vans...although the Strubings 2 are good to skate in...

DC makes a boot that is water resistant as well as comfy---try CCS.com if you need something other than a skate shoe for the lousy weather. Here in Connecticut, it was 70 degrees last Thursday, then snowed Saturday. I guess that's why they call her MOTHER Nature, the bitch can't seem to make up her mind.
