this dude ripped... i skated a few of his boards. i used to like g&s decks a lot in the late 80's really early 90's. they always had great wood stain jobs. i wish heintzman had gone over to alien and stuck around for a few more years as a pro but i guess nodody could absolutely predict g&s's demise. they were big back then! i dunno maybe he was already kinda old school by that time.... i forget, that time was a blur. fuck, it's been said a million times, but from like 1989-1994 (5 yrs) more shit changed in skating than during the 20 yrs afterwards (1995-2015).

I think Mark not being on Alien had to do with money, as in they didn't have any when the Workshop first started. His part in Winona Riders was ripping, too.

oh for sure... ha. but like, i mean how much longer could he have been collecting decent checks from g&s after alien started up? they had to have dried up shortly afterward. if he had made the move to alien, maybe he could've extended his career. maybe he was over it. haha

True. But back then guys gave up being pro when they got into their low twenties, which is probably about how old Mark was. He had a good TWS interview in like 92 or 93.

remember the G&S trucks? they looked a lot like the ace trucks they sell now. except these had a welded hanger that often broke. Same kid that had the Heintzman had those G&S trucks on it. The double kick board was too squared off much like the "toe knee" from powell. There are still warehouses full to the brim with that toe knee board. I say the first modern shape was the siamese twin kick from New Deal. The football shape was about to make its way in for a year or so and from then on out it was the popsicle shape. Shapes from 1990 to 1993 changed so much. This revival that has happened with the 80's re releases that are marketed to 40 somethings that have the disposible income to indulge in childhood memories like boards and clothes will hopefully happen again for this time period in skateboarding. There are a few re releases from late 1991 to early to mid 1992 but there neeeds to be many more.
