Chet Thomas #6.

Spin cycle.

Chet was the undisputed mini ramp champ of the 1990s. He was riding for Channel One at the time of this trick. Check the Sal Barbier's on his feet, too.

The photo is by Chris Ortiz and the video is by Steve Black.

Wasn’t he in a Wheaties commercial around the same time as the unfortunate Nickelodeon show Sk8TV?

I forgot about that commercial. It was Cheerios. It's on YouTube.

Why do people hate on Sk8TV? Yeah it was corny, but in retrospect, they did a pretty good job and had some quality stuff on there.

I think for me it was the very annoying Powell video style editing, the way it trivialized skateboarding, was 80%non skating footage and, after skating through the entirety of the 80’s, it was sad seeing Lance explain to little kids across America not to put their trucks on backwards.

I hear ya. We thought it was silly at the time, too.

It was also a TV show on children's network so there was going to be some give and take.

I liked Lance's how to sections. I'm sure he didn't love doing them, but they kind of captured Lance's personality. It's not like you could look up how to setup a board on YouTube back then.

They did show clips from videos and new footage of people skating the mini or pool so that was good. We were starved for skate content back then.

I know I've got some episodes on tape so I'll dig one up to rewatch. I'm curious to see how it differs from my memory at this point.
