Ed Templeton #4.

Ed's Hot Shoes interview. The Red Hot Chili Peppers? I guess everybody who skateboarded back then liked them or at least listened to them. Ed was always consistent in his interviews by listing them and Jane's Addiction as his favorite bands. I dislike both of those bands, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with Ed. He's one of my favorite pros.

M. Fo took the portrait and Bryce Kanights got the nose bonk photo.

A friend even tried to convince me how great the RHCP were when by lending me the "Vision red Hot Skate Rock" tape when it came out. It made me hate them even more after, a stance I never shifted away from since.

I enjoy both RHCP and Jane's Addiction. Never was one for the "different band, same shitty sound" punk that was a staple most that voiced disliking of RCHP and Jane's.

I have a friend who still likes them. He had to track down their tape after we watched Thrashin'. I could deal with them until "Under The Bridge" came out my senior year of high school. That song permanently put them on my shit list.

I can't do Jane's at all. Nearly everybody loves them, but they have never sounded good to me. Perry Farrell's other projects have completely put me off the band. I don't know how many times I've heard Ritual de lo Habitual and the only two songs I remember are "Stop" and "Been Caught Stealing." My roommate from freshman year of college completely ruined any chance I ever had of liking them by playing "Jane Says" endlessly on repeat.

I know what you mean by different band/same shitty sound.

I know we live in a world where opinions are like assholes, etc etc., but I find it hard to believe anyone can actully HATE the Peppers. It's not as if they are making the same sound over and over again like some bands who have done well for themselves (see: Pearl Jam, U2, REM, etc), if "Under the Bridge" killed the band for you, maybe it's time to open your mind and catch up on the last three or so GEMS they have released. And if anyone thinks jane's sounds even REMOTELY like the Peppers, you might want to book an appointment with your ear specialist---PRONTO!!

sure, but if you were a part of any skate scene during that time, janes was the most beloved bands of that time. all of my friends and I were into janes, seeing them multiple times in concert. if it wasnt for you, you were either weird or sheltered.
